14 dead in Jordan building collapse as search ends

AMMAN: One last body pulled from the rubble of a collapsed building in JordanThe capital on Saturday when search efforts ended after four days, bringing the death toll to 14.
Amer al-Sartawi, a spokesman for the public security agency, said: “Rescue crews were able to bring in one dead on Saturday, the death toll is now 14.
A major rescue operation began when a four-story residential building toppled Tuesday in Jabal al-Weibdehone of Ammanoldest neighborhoods.
The discovery of the body, which medical sources said was that of a woman, meant that all the missing had been taken into account, marking the end of the search effort.
Jordan’s prosecutor has ordered the arrest of three people as part of the investigation, including the building manager as well as two others involved in the renovation work, state media reported.
The site of the tragedy was in the capital’s central Jabal al-Weibdeh district, known for its vibrant cultural life and home to a large number of foreigners.
On Thursday, emergency workers safely rescued a four-month-old girl from the rubble, with only minor bruises.
