After Interpol’s tip-off on child porn, CBI raids in 21 states | India News

NEW DELHI: The CBI on Saturday filed two FIRs and conducted all-India raids at 59 locations in 21 states on the basis of input from Interpol units in New Zealand and Singapore related to the circulation and online distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
The raids were carried out after about 75 individuals were traced and identified using detailed internet protocol analysis (IPDR) on their devices, the sources said.
During the search, electronic devices including cell phones and laptops of more than 50 suspects were recovered. “Preliminary monitoring of these electronic devices using network forensic tools has revealed the presence of large numbers of CSAMs,” said CBI spokesman RC Joshi.
The suspects are being questioned in relation to material found in their electronic devices to identify child victims and abusers. The arrest will be made after questioning, based on the evidence gathered against the individuals.
An official said the operation was codenamed ‘Megh Chakra’ due to the use of a cloud-based storage method to commit the crime.
