Alabama High School Soccer: Focus on Attack

The state of Alabama has always produced outstanding talent to the next level, but the classes of 2023 and ’24 are getting more special. Elite prospects are scattered across the state with teams like Clay-Chalkville, Thompson, Carver, Clay, Hewitt-Trussville, and Andalusia stocking up on future Saturday heroes. We take a look at the early-season performances in Alabama State that put the spotlight on top attacking players with Ryan Wright shielding the receiver and Sean Williams taking on the players backstage.

The 2025 prospect has cemented itself as one of the best in its class with over 50 resume offers. He also supports that hype on the football field. Over three games, Henderson accumulated 687 yards of dash and 12 touchdowns while averaging 11.7 yards per take.

The Auburn commit began his 2022 campaign with a four-touch performance at 215 yards in a 42-21 win over McGill-Toolen. So far, the promising Rivals250 has charged 554 yards and 11 touchdowns in three games and is now averaging 12.6 yards per take.

One would be hard-pressed to find a 2023 receiver that toppled second stars the way Davion Dozier did for Moody High School (3-0). The rising triple star beat 5A Alabama’s defense by 496 yards in 13 receptions with five going into the final zone. The 38.2-yard average per catch speaks for itself.

The Razorbacks closed on Dozier on July 13, completely locking him out for the weekend during his successful official run for the Cincinnati game.

Auburn is committed to Karmello English getting off to a good start with Phenix City Center High School. The four-star aggregated 203 yards in 16 receptions in three games with two touchdowns. He was helping in the field position battle when two penalties fell back 38 yards. Don’t be surprised to see him chasing the Briton with safety balls covering his direction after running 70 times, 1,000 yards, 18 TDs in 2021.

Notable WR performances: Ragland’s Jordan Turner with 392 yards received, James Bolton with 370 yards for Montgomery, and Eli Tidwell with 363 yards for Hartselle.

So far, the emerging 2024 signal caller has put up video game-like numbers to lead the St. His James leads 3-0. The three stars threw 647 yards and 9 touchdowns with no interception. Jackson also showed off his wheels, dashing over 100 meters in a Week 2 win over Handley.

The three stars have shown their dual threat ability this season. McCreary threw 456 yards and 8 touchdowns with a 66% completion rate while also dashing for 278 yards and a touchdown. He is orchestrating a Montgomery Catholic attack, averaging 53 points per game. Maryland, Nebraska, UCFand Georgia Tech are some of his notable offers to date.
