‘American Idol’ star Willie Spence dies aged 23 – National


Before American Idol star Willie Spence has passed away at the age of 23.

Katharine McPhee Foster confirmed that the singer, who was the show’s 19th season runner-up in 2021, has died after being injured in a car crash.

Many stores including E! News and TMZ shared the tragic news.

McPhee, who finished second in the fifth season of American Idol in 2006, posted on her Instagram story: “I received very tragic news tonight.”

“Sweet @Williespenceofficial passed away in a car crash,” she wrote. “Only 23 years old.”

McPhee, who performed the 1999 ballad by Céline Dion and Andrea Bocelli Praying with Spence on American Idolwrote, “Life isn’t fair and nothing is promised.”

She continued: “God rest Willie’s soul. Nice to sing with you and get to know you. “

TMZ reports the crash happened Tuesday while Spence was driving home from Tennessee to Atlanta. One of Spence’s relatives announced the death of the musician.

Local news agency Douglas Now also posted on Facebook.

“He is an extraordinary talent and a ray of light to millions around the world,” the publication said. “He will be ignored.”
