A medical professional is behind bars after his colleague secretly filmed him abusing a pregnant woman. Brazilian authorities arrested Giovanni Quintella Bezerra on July 10 for allegedly raping a woman who was sedated for a c-section. Now, police say the anesthesiologist may have assaulted five more women. Giovanni allegedly attacked two of the five people on the same day as the victim in the video, according to Daily mail.
Skin Mulher Hospital staff began questioning the anesthesiologist’s behavior in the last month. According to reports, they were concerned about the amount of sedation he was administering to the patient. Add to that the reported fact that Giovanni completed his medical training two months ago. In addition, reports say the work of anesthesiologists sometimes makes it impossible for women to hold their babies after giving birth due to consciousness problems.

So hospital staff set up a hidden camera during an operation much like Giovanni’s third cesarean section on Sunday. At that point, even his position near the patient during surgery was cause for concern. What paramedics later saw was Giovanni sexually assaulting the mother by shoving his penis into her mouth. Meanwhile, other medical professionals do their actual work on the other side of the surgical curtain. When a nurse tried to get close, he allegedly used intimidation tactics to keep her at bay.
Footage shows the anesthesiologist moving the woman’s head towards and away from his body. After 10 minutes, the video shows Giovanni wiping the woman’s mouth with gauze. The nurses called the police after reviewing the video. In an interview, a nurse said that Giovanni even looked agitated in c-section.
While the victim was filmed being under the influence of sedatives, she still recalled the attack. However, she believes she is hallucinating, DM. On the other hand, her husband did not know about his wife’s assault until news of the arrest was broadcast on television.
Police collected used swabs, used tranquilizer vials and Giovanni’s phone as evidence.
“He was a resourceful man who showed no concern when he committed a crime… there was an abuse of power,” said federal police chief Bárbara Lomba, who said Giovanni could have been a serial attacker.

At least six women have come forward with assault allegations
As previously reported, police are investigating whether the woman in the video was one of the three victims that day. During the second surgery, Giovanni is said to have blocked the view of the patient’s head from the neck upwards using his body. One of the victims said she barely remembers the surgery but feels uneasy with the anesthesiologist.
“The only thing I remember from the surgery was his voice,” the victim said. “He kept whispering in my ear, it bothered me. He asked if I was okay.”
Since the news broke, three other women have reported assault to the police station. Giovanni treated the women on different days, but it’s not clear how close to the three alleged attacks on Sunday of the other attacks.
Giovanni’s guardianship hearing took place on Tuesday. The judge was not lenient and sentenced to indefinite detention in solitary confinement. This ruling will remain in place until the end of the police investigation. Additionally, officials will review his detention every 90 days to see if police need more time. If convicted of rape, Giovanni faces between eight and 15 years in prison.
Anesthesiologist is locked inside Brazil’s “largest prison complex”, according to Daily mail. Television cameras captured inmates booing and screaming in his direction as he entered the prison on Tuesday night.
