Battlefield 2042 yes passed the bellBut after that dramatically shrinks In terms of scope and ambition, the developers at DICE are looking to get back to business as usual for the troubled multiplayer shooter. The game’s upcoming season 2, titled Master of Arms, shifts the focus away from game-wide shake-ups in favor of dropping good classic content.
Starting on August 30, about three months later season 1 Starting off, Master of Arms will add a new map Stranded that will take players to Panama to battle around a dry lake and a transport ship stuck in a swamp. (Probably inspired by a real barricade of the Suez Canal in Cairo?) Also joining the fight is a new expert, an old arms dealer named Charlie Crawford. As for the military shooter characters, Charlie seems pretty basic, but he has a weird giant gun and he talks like low budget action legend Scott Adkinsso that’s kind of endearing.
In addition to new weapons and vehicles, Master of Arms will bring a host of new features to Battlefield 2042aimed at giving players a way to unlock season 1 content they might have missed, and also expanding Battlefield Portal. These include Missions, which DICE says are “a way to unlock weapons in Total War that were previously only available in Battlefield Portal – starting with the iconic M60E4 and M16A3, with more to come in future updates. Players will also be able to use Quests to unlock season 1 vehicles, weapons, and Specialists if they miss it the first time around. “
All told, it sounds like a good, if fastest, seasonal update for a multiplayer shooter. Maybe that’s not necessarily enough to attract new or already lost players, but for Battlefield 2042 faithfully, maybe some stabilization of the factory is being welcomed right now.
