Beyoncé celebrates her sister Solange’s new music for the New York City Ballet
This week, musical artist Solange debuted original music she wrote for part of New York City’s Fall Fashion Gala at Lincoln Center. Music written for a show titled Playing time and choreographed by Gianna Reisen. The show will take place in October and again in May. The piece is being performed by the Municipal Ballet Orchestra and a soloist from her choir.
On Saturday, October 1, Solange’s sister, Beyoncé, celebrated the big achievement by sharing an image on her Instagram timeline and a video of her in her Story of their evening. at Solange’s ballet and music performance.
“My dear sister, there are no words to express the pride and admiration I have for you,” Beyoncé wrote. “You are a visionary and one in one. Congratulations on being the first African-American woman to write for the New York City Ballet. The work you create is phenomenal. I love you deeply.”
She added, “May I suggest you don’t f*** with my sister.”
Solange also shared some pictures on her Instagram page, showing herself posing at Lincoln Center, sitting in the back of a limo with friends, a music notation page from her track, and a photo of herself with her sister and mother Theirs, Tina Knowles.
She captioned the carousel, “so full of hearts.”
In an interview with All artsReisen described the score, saying, “It’s got a lot of nuance. It’s exciting, for sure. That’s what I wanted; I wanted something that could get the audience’s attention.”
She added that she hopes the new music and approach to production since COVID-19 will inspire new audiences to explore the world of NYC’s ballet.
“I think the most exciting thing is getting new people to come and experience ballet,” she said. “It’s not just ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and things like that. There are a lot of people with that mentality [of] ‘Why am I going to the ballet?’ It’s like, no, I promise you. There are interesting things going on at the ballet. “
