Although it is normal for famous businessmen to donate to both sides of the political aisle, so whoever win an election that they can call in some favor, as the Republican Party moves further to the right some of the candidates in favor deserve a little more scrutiny than usual.

Like Axios report, the race for a US House of Representatives seat in California’s 27th District – part of the city of Los Angeles – is expected to come to an end on Tuesday, after the 2020 election saw the Lower Congressman Mike Garcia won only 333 votes. His opponent this week (as of 2020) is Democrat Christy Smith, and to help the incumbent in the line, three wealthy donors gave Garcia $50,000.

One of those three sponsors is Activision CEO Bobby Kotick, who runs a company that has Hire a Bush-era torture advocate and a “bullying” Trump administration. “No other game executive has contributed to a campaign close to that size in this cycle,” Axios report clarify, in case you wondered about the size and context of that donation. While $50,000 is the legal limit for donations from an individual, Kotick has used the workaround to donate much larger amounts to Republican candidates in the past. In March, a spokesman for Activision CEO said he “has given roughly the same amount of money to Democrats and Republicans over the past five years“.

Garcia’s campaign, and Kotick’s support of it, deserve more scrutiny because like so many Republicans in 2022, he’s more than just a conservative. Garcia, one Believer in MAGAwas one of 139 represented, in January 2021, even after witnessing violence on the Capitol on January 6, voted to oppose the results of the Presidential Electoral College from two statesin fact opposed the democratic election of President Joe Biden and introduced what was described as “underground support“To an uprising.

I know that almost two years of following the Republican Party slowly sliding down the abyss of neo-fascism took away a sore part of thisbut just taking a moment to note that the CEO of Activision Blizzard spent $50,000 to support a man protesting against Trump’s impeachment over his role on January 6th,”pursue draconian restrictions on women’s reproductive health and liberties“And given that the FBI’s investigation into former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property is”the literal tyranny of the majority right now is operating more like the Third Reich“.

Kotick’s tenure as CEO has been marred by historical allegations of abuse and strapless sex, This has led to major lawsuits and government investigations into the conduct of several corporate studios.
