TRURO – A man has been charged with murder after his mother was found dead in a Truro home on Friday, the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office said.
Initially, police responded to the house at about 9:30 p.m. to obtain a separate report of the fire and to request a medical check-up.
They found a man outside the house and a fire on the lawn. “Emergency personnel realized it was a burning body, so the male subject ran into the house locking the door,” the DA said.
A SWAT team finally made it into the house. Adam Howe, 34, was taken into custody and charged with murder. He will undergo a mental health assessment.
The DA said it believes the deceased was Susan Howe, 70, Adam’s mother.
