“I have always been a fan of pop culture since I was a kid. I both love entertainment and love this type of television. So when I get a chance to produce ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta, ‘in 2008, I caught this bug in reality TV, and baby, it’s been bugging me ever since. So I wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to work for someone else and decided to start my own production company Kingdom Reign Entertainment to really start creating programs that I feel like cultural reflections on. I want to do shows that I know Black Twitter will be proud of… I know that Roommates will talk about it, that’s the way’Encore, ‘on BET was born. So for me it was all about establishing my brand, we did it with ‘Love and Marriage: Huntsville‘now we have’Love and Marriage: DC. ‘ So, being the Black Man created a brand was huge, and being the first openly Gay Black Man to have a late-night gig was a breakthrough. So here I am with my Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey, and trying to make the fetch happen. “
Carlos credits those around him for encouraging him to step in front of the camera, however, he wanted to lock in his production skills before actually doing so.
“I’m a hard worker, I wanted to make sure I honed my skills as a producer,” he said. “Do I dream of being on TV? Sure, I wanted my own daytime talk show when I was 12. So I always had that in mind, but for it to make sense for me, I had to make sure to hone my production skills before deciding to take that leap. “
Now, Carlos not only dominates the PRIVATE network with only his talk show, but also with “Love and Marriage: Huntsville“”Love and Marriage: DC,” and “Belle Collective. “
When explaining how he determined which cities he would use as the focal point of his performances, Carlos said, “I like to explore cities that people are not familiar with.” He added, “I also like to explore different territories that I don’t know about because it keeps things interesting, even for me.”
