Clear Creek ISD is searching for the owner of a wallet found in the floorboards of the oldest school during renovations.

The wallet was found in the floorboards of League City School, which most recently housed League City Elementary students in 2018. The school served as a home for students both before and after CCISD was incorporated in 2018. 1948, according to the school district.

Since then, League City converted the old building into a community center and it is undergoing renovation, which is how the wallet was found below the stage.

“The wallet was filled with what looked like a wallet and it turned out to be a diary,” said Richard Lewis, vice president of the City Historical Society. “Think of it as Facebook is today: you’re putting everything down. She wrote about her love life, with whom she broke up”.

Based on the contents of the wallet, League City officials say it may have belonged to a woman named Beverly Williams, who likely lost it in April 1959.

“One of the photos has her at 9.5 months old and it says 1946, so her age estimate is 76 years old,” Lewis said. “She is the youngest in a family of four sisters. The mother who signed the note was Mrs. Frank Williams, so we have a picture of [the dad] but we don’t know her name. “

According to CCISD, the items in the wallet also bear the names of Walt Davis, Robert Charles Schleyer and sisters Sharon, Linda and Lonnie.

The school district said there are some indications that the owner of the wallet is connected to CCISD, but officials have yet to find any records of Beverly or her family.
