CD Projekt Red has pulled back the curtain on its game development, revealing a brand new Cyberpunk game, lots of new Witcher games, and even a new IP.
The news comes following a studio investor call today in which the studio revealed Orion, the codename for their next Cyberpunk game. Not much else has been revealed, but CDPR says Orion “will take the Cyberpunk franchise further and continue to tap into the potential of this dystopian future universe.”
Next up is The Witcher. CDPR has revealed that their next Witcher game, was announced earlier this yearunder development under the codename Big Dipper. The studio says “this is the beginning of a new story” and it aims to release two more Witcher games after Polaris, creating a trilogy of new AAA RPG Witcher games.
Following that reveal, CDPR announced another “official” Witcher game with a (presumably) codename. Canis Majoris. It will be developed by an external studio led by experienced developers who have worked on CDPR’s Witcher games in the past, according to the announcement.
We’ve known that for a long time Molasses Flood is working on a game in the Witcher universeand on today’s investor call, CDPR released some additional details about the project.
“Sirius is the codename of the game developed by [The Molasses Flood]set in the The Witcher universe and created with support from CDPR,” one tweet reads. It will be different from our previous products, offering multiplayer gameplay on both a single player experience, including a campaign with missions and a story. ”
To wrap up today’s “new game” announcement, CDPR has revealed the Hadar project, a third IP “made from scratch.” According to the studio, the project is in the early stages of its creation, meaning it hasn’t actually developed any games yet. Currently, CDPR is “working exclusively on the platform for this new installation”
And those are all new games and projects that CDPR announced today. As you can see, the studio was quite busy.
