Colts named Jeff Saturday, interim head coach

The Indianapolis Colts announced on Monday that they have fired head coach Frank Reich and that they are bringing in a franchise legend to replace him for the time being.

Former Colts center and six-time Pro Bowl selection Jeff Saturday was Named interim head coach of the team.

Seven, 47, has no professional-level coaching experience but is hugely loved by Colts fans. He’s served in a consulting role for the team for the past few years, while also working as an analyst for ESPN. Saturday worked as a coach at Hebron Christian Academy, a preparatory school in Georgia. He was 20-16 in three seasons there.

Colts is in full rebuild mode, which is a nice way of saying. Some would call it a tank. In the space of two weeks, Indianapolis replaced veteran Matt Ryan for Sam Ehlinger, who had not previously fielded a pass in a regular game. The Colts then fire their attack coordinator and replaced Reich with an inexperienced coach. It looks like the Colts have no intention of winning many games for the rest of the season.
