Congress: Fear of cross-votes, Congress takes extra precautions for Presidential polls

After cross-voting costs in Rajya Sabha polls in Haryana and legislative assembly elections in Maharashtra, Conference is taking extra precautions to assemble its MLA for the Presidential polls to be held on Monday.

Party is gaining more attention after former Union Minister Ajay Maken lost in Rajya Sabha poll in Haryana as two MLAs cross-voted, one candidate in Maharashtra vote lost due to seven cross-voted MLAs and recent political developments in Goa.

In Jharkhand, where ruling ally Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has extended support for NDA candidates Draupadi MurmuParliamentary Secretary-General in charge of Avinash Pande will be in Ranchi and attend meetings of party MLAs, a large number of them tributes, with opposition candidates Yashwant Sinha.

In Madhya Pradesh, former Minister Kamal Nath alleged that the state ruling BJP is trying to attract MLAs in his party with a big money offer to vote for the NDA candidate in the July 18 presidential poll.

Nath said that a congressional MLA informed him of receiving a phone call to vote for an NDA candidate in exchange for money. However, Nath assured that all Congressional MLAs would vote for Sinha.
