Contrary to rumors, Assassin’s Creed Infinity doesn’t seem to have an Aztec setting
Following the release of the next Assassin’s Creed game, codenamed Rift, Ubisoft is reportedly working on a release Assassin’s Creed Infinity. Infinity will be a live-serve game, which is supposed to include a bunch of different experiences – one of which, obviously, is will not is Aztec despite recent rumors.
“Next [Assassin’s Creed] the game is Rift, set in Baghdad,” Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier wrote on Reddit. “Then it will be [Assassin’s Creed] Infinity, and while that will cover a bunch of different games/experiences/biomes/whatever you want to call them, I’ve heard of two main games and neither of them is the Aztecs. “
Schreier posted this in response to a report from YouTuber and video game reviewer Jeremy Penter, who said, in a tweet, “The next AC game will be Aztec.” Only time will tell which of the two is correct.
Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed the Rift’s existence yet, but they did talk about Infinity, which will be developed under a new cross-studio structure between Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Quebec. Infinity won’t be free to playand will launch in 2024 or later. The game will act as a platform on which Assassin’s Creed can develop in the future, allowing Ubisoft to explore a variety of experiences.
Rift is supposed to be a Smaller scale Assassin’s Creed game featuring Valhalla’s Basim. The game is said to be released in 2022 or 2023. We may know more about it soon, like Ubisoft will discuss the future of Assassin’s Creed in September.
