The National Advisory Committee on Immunization is recommending a booster shot this fall before a possible future wave of COVID-19 in Canada.

In a notice released Wednesday, the NACI said jurisdictions should plan to provide boosters to people at increased risk of severe illness from COVID regardless of the number of booster doses they have received. previously received.

The NACI also recommends that all other individuals 12 to 64 years of age receive a booster regardless of the number of doses of booster they have previously received.

It said it would provide recommendations on which COVID-19 vaccine to be given for this booster dose when evidence of appropriate vaccines becomes available.

“COVID-19 cases, including related hospitalizations and deaths, are currently decreasing in Canada. However, the likelihood, duration, and severity of a future wave of COVID-19 is likely. future is uncertain,” NACI said in a statement.
