“Cristiano Ronaldo’s celebration demanded ‘calma’ at Camp Nou” – Real Madrid star recalls his first El Clasico anniversary
Real Madrid Midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni revealed Cristiano RonaldoThe ‘Calma’ celebration at Camp Nou was his first of classic.
Los Blancos will take on Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu in one of world football’s biggest matches on October 16.
Before the clash, Los Blancos midfielder Tchouameni had this to say about his favorite moment of the game (via Madrid Xtra):
“The first memory of El Clásico? Cristiano Ronaldo’s celebration requires ‘calma’ at Camp Nou.”
There have been many historic moments in the titanic clash over the years. However, few can match Ronaldo putting his side ahead of the Blaugrana at Camp Nou and asking the pitch to remain calm.
Real Madrid and Barcelona were engaged in a close race for the La Liga title during the 2011-12 season. In a tense clash at Camp Nou, Sami Khedira soon put Los Blancos ahead. However, Alexis Sanchez equalized in the second half for the Catalan side.
Right after Sanchez’s goal, Ronaldo received an excellent pass from Mesut Ozil. He then made his way around the Spanish keeper, Victor Valdes in search of the back of the grid in style.
As the Madrid giants’ biggest star, he has always been subjected to hostile treatment from the Barcelona crowd. The pantomime villain asked his opposing fans to calm down as he staged an iconic post-goal celebration.
Victory secured Los Blancos’ goal of becoming Spanish champions. Jose Mourinho’s side lifted the trophy that season after Pep Guardiola’s win over Barcelona.
Tchouameni has been in fine form for the Madrid giants since joining the club in the summer from AS Monaco for a whopping €100m. He has provided two assists in 12 games for his team in all competitions.
Barcelona star sends warning to Real Madrid ahead of El Clasico
El Clasico will be an important match as both teams are at the top of the La Liga table at the moment.
However, their form in UEFA Champions League was completely opposite. Los Blancos have secured their place in the next round and Barcelona are in danger of being eliminated from the group stage.
However, winger Raphinha had a warning for Real Madrid ahead of the game, as he told Barca TV (via Madrid manager):
“I’m a little worried about Clásico, but I’m fine with my head. We are leaders. I’m not saying scared, but if anyone has to be a little careful, it’s them. We are confident and will do everything we can to win.”
Real Madrid is currently second in the table, just behind Barcelona in terms of goal difference.
