Does the NFL penalize wrong 49ers players for uniform violations?
Every ESPNSan Francisco 49ers safe George Odum scored a solo ball and a clearance in last Saturday’s 17-7 pre-season win over the Minnesota Vikings.
Those stats could prove to be a bit expensive for Odum.
Like Michael David Smith Explaining to Pro Football Talk, the NFL fined Odum $5,305 after that contest for a uniform violation involving the 28-year-old allegedly not covering his knees completely at points during the game.
“During the San Francisco 49ers-Minnesota Vikings game on August 20, 2022, you violated the NFL’s Equip and Uniform Code,” a letter from the federation read. “Specifically, your pants do not cover the knee area. Law 5, Section 4, Article 3, Clause (4) of the Official Rules of Competition 2022 of the National Football League stipulates that pants must be worn on the entire knee area; pants that must be cut short or rolled up in response to knee-high socks are prohibited.”
