‘ER’ actor Mary Mara, 61, apparently drowned in the St. Lawrence – Country
Mary Mara, a character actress known for her roles above ER, Ray Donavan and Law & Order, died in an apparent drowning on Sunday. She is 61 years old.
New York State Police announced the death after they answered a call about a possible drowning Sunday morning in the small town of Cape Vincent.
Emergency responders found Mara dead underwater in the St. Lawrence.

A preliminary investigation found Mara drowned while swimming, and police have so far found no signs of foul play, according to a press release.
The Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the official cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.
Mara’s manager Craig Dorfman also confirmed the actor’s death, writing that “Mary is one of the most amazing actresses I’ve ever met.”
“I still remember seeing her on stage in 1992 in Crazy forest off Broadway. She is electric, funny and a real individual. Everyone loves her. She will be remembered.”

A spokesperson for Mara’s family told Deadline that the actor was staying at her sister’s summer home in Cape Vincent when she passed away. The property is located in the Thousand Islands region, where the St. Lawrence separates Canada and the United States.
Cape Vincent is about an hour’s drive from Kingston, Ont.
Mara has performed roles for television and film, and her credits include episodic roles in beloved series such as DexterStar Trek: Enterprise and Nash Bridge. Her movie credits include Saturday night of Mr. and Love Potion #9.

Mara’s last role is the 2020 movie Break evenShe later retired from acting and moved back to her hometown of Syracuse, according to Variety.
The actor is survived by his stepdaughter Katie Mersola, sisters Martha and Susan Mara, and nephew Christopher Dailey.
As of this writing, no funeral plans have been announced.
