Fox News Pivots to Concern for Gas Stations as Prices Drop

The days after filming strong June jobs report were “America’s Job CrisisFox News is now concerned that month-long sky-high fuel costs could be a bad thing for mom and baby gas stations.

As gas prices rose in the first half of the year, Fox News relentlessly blamed the White House for the painful increase in pumps, citing it as the cause. President Joe Biden intentionally harms the oil industry and his decided to close the incomplete Keystone XL pipeline. (Of course, the actual reason for the dramatic increase is a little more complicated.)

While the network is bullish, slow to admit steady price drop at the pump over the past month. Follow both GasBuddy and American Automobile AssociationThe national average price of a gallon of conventional unleaded gas has fallen nearly 40 cents since peaking at $5.02.

During the Monday broadcast of US Report, co-manager John Roberts eventually informed a Fox News audience that gas prices were “falling again” near his home. However, his colleague Sandra Smith suggests that this may not be entirely a good thing.

“It is. It is so,” she noted. “And the matter came up over the weekend, I believe it was. The Wall Street Journalthat gas prices are actually falling faster than historically with oil prices than usual. “

Smith continued: “And it just shows you how an amazing risk-reward calculation happens for a fraction of those small gas stations – independently owned, most of them – the Mother gas station and store. It’s a struggle for all of them! “

The WSJ the article that Smith referenced report that the rapidly falling gas prices are “creating new headaches for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs and other independent operators who operate about half of all gas stations in the US,” adding that owners stations risk “losing money for every new fuel order” they place.

Roberts, for his part, notes that “we are still a long way from $3.55 a gallon” but perhaps the nation is starting to “move in that direction.”

Smith’s gas commentary came just a week later she and her Fox colleague, Charles Payne, sent Vice President Kamala Harris on a mission because it seems to be laughing at the “gas price crisis”.
