Geno Smith names Seahawks ‘QB start for Week 1’

The Seattle Seahawks quarterback rivalry is over.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll announced after the pre-season game Friday night that Geno Smith will be the team’s starting quarterback in Week 1, via ESPN’s Brady Henderson. The decision seems easy given how Drew Lock plays.

Lock missed the Seahawks’ second pre-season game after being eliminated due to COVID. Smith didn’t impress in that game, left Carroll wanted to see more Keywords.

Well, he certainly saw a lot of information about Lockdown on Friday night – a bit too much.

Lock went 13 goals 24 in 171 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in the Seahawks’ 27-26 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Smith started the game and dribbled 3/6 for 43 yards while leading a scoring header.

Carroll said all that Smith took the lead to win the starting job. But the coach wanted to see if Lock could knock Smith out. He failed to do so.

The Seahawks will host Denver in their season opener on Monday, September 12. The game will mark Lock and Russell Wilson facing their former teams, but Smith and Wilson will instead face off against each other. quarter-finals for their respective teams.
