Summer vacation allowance. Summer vacation is a wonderful time for many children but can be frustrating for many parents. With food poverty and a cost-of-living crisis unfolding, everyone needs help. It’s good to remind readers that there are many food and other service organizations out there to help you if you’re an individual in need of food during the summer break. You can contact any of the following organizations that may be able to provide you with assistance:

TURN2US

If your kids reach school age and receive free school meals during the term, you may be worried about food and other expenses while they’re on vacation. Find out summer holiday grants and what help may be available, depending on where you live in the UK here.

HOLIDAYS AND FREE TRIPS

Families who are struggling financially, or facing illness, isolation or loss, will have the opportunity to take a weekend off thanks to a new government fund.

More than 800 family vacations and trips over the next few months will be funded by the £600,000 ‘Britain for All’ fund. The fund will support parents, carers and young people going through difficult times to be able to go away, relax and enjoy a weekend in the UK.

FREE FOOD FROM OLIO

As always, Olio is well worth checking out as there are thousands of items given away daily. You are bound to find something you need to ease your summer troubles. Get food and drinks for everything in between. All perfectly good food, no desire to be given away to reduce food waste. Everything shared on OLIO is free. SCOTLAND

Food and Child Care Fund Summer Vacation 2022 has now been allocated to Council Services as well as a range of volunteer organizations across Stirling to provide activities, food and childcare, to support the health of children and young people during the summer. WEST POWER DISTRIBUTION

WPD is inviting applications for the £500,000 Community Affairs Fund from organizations that can support families struggling to raise children over the summer holidays.

The company is the operator of the electricity distribution network for South Wales, the South West and the Midlands, so that’s where it is targeting its funding. You can check if your organization qualifies for its position.

Applications for the £2,500 grant are invited from eligible local charities (including food banks), councils and community groups such as parent teachers union. Click here for more information.

INDEPENDENT FOOD EMERGENCY NETWORK

IFAN is the UK’s network for independent food aid providers. They support and connect with a wide range of independent frontline food aid organizations while campaigning on their behalf at the national level.

ENGLISH CROSS

The British Red Cross has set up a toll-free coronavirus helpline for people who are feeling lonely, anxious or finding it difficult to cope. Red Cross volunteers from the psychological and social health team are available to provide both practical and emotional support. They also connect people with additional support in their local area.

The phone number for the support line is 0808 196 3651 and it is open daily from 10 am to 6 pm. This service is free and completely confidential. You can find more information on the British Red Cross website.

FOOD Bracelets

Feeding England is running a network of emergency food schemes across the UK. This protects children and their families from starvation. Hot meals and food packages are being offered through a combination of home delivery and collection. This ensures low-income families can prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.
