‘Grease’ star Olivia Newton-John dies aged 73

After 30 years of battling breast cancer, Olivia Newton-John has passed away. Her representative confirmed the news, saying that Olivia “died peacefully at her ranch in Southern California on Monday morning, surrounded by family and friends.” She is only 73 years old.

Her husband posted the confirmation on her official Facebook page, saying the following:

“Olivia Newton-John (73 years old) passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends. We ask that everyone respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.

Olivia has been a symbol of victory and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer. Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with botanical medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation, which specializes in research in botanical medicine and cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family requested any donation in her memory to the Olivia Newton-John Foundation (ONJFoundationFund.org).

Olivia is survived by her husband John Easterling; daughter Chloe Lattanzi; sister Sarah Newton-John; brother Toby Newton-John; granddaughters Tottie, Fiona and Brett Goldsmith; Emerson, Charlie, Zac, Jeremy, Randall and Pierz Newton-John; Jude Newton-Stock, Layla Lee; Kira and Tasha Edelstein; and Brin and Valerie Hall.

Newton-John was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992 and again in 2013, but she chose to keep those matters private for the second time. When she was diagnosed for the third time in September 2018, she told the public that she had cancer at the base of her spine and was determined to beat it with the support of her husband, John Easterling.
