Sunisa Lee, Auburn
Lee, a sophomore from St. Paul, Minn., won 11th overall in Alabama with a score of 39,825, making it the national lead for the 2023 season. Lee scored 10.0 points on the bar and beam, meeting her for the first time in her career with a perfect score. She also registered 9.90 on vault for second and 9,925 on deck for third. Lee’s performance helped Auburn reach a season-high 197,700 on the road and was the first time the Tigers had scored 197+ in Tuscaloosa in the show’s history.
Expert of the week
KJ Johnson, LSU
Johnson, a sophomore from Dallas, Texas, hit the top floor of her career with 9.95 to take second place in a win over 17 Georgia. Johnson also finished fourth on vault with a score of 9,875 as the Tigers took the top four spots in the event.
New student of the week
Kayla DiCello, Florida
DiCello, a freshman from Boyds, Md., led the SEC freshman last week with an overall score of 39,475 in an 18th-place Arkansas win. DiCello finished third to feature in Gator’s all-out sweep. She scored a college best of 9.95 to come in second, and surpassed a college best of 9,925 on the bars to take third. DiCello also shares fourth place on vault with the second-highest score of the season at 9,875.
