Julian took action and began performing Heimlich Maneuver on his classmate and clearing what was blocking his airway.

The Hall County Board of Education recognized Julian during their meeting Monday night.

Superintendent Will Schofield asked Julian how he knew what to do in that situation and he replied that he learned from a poster on the wall at school.

“When you are a school district striving to be the most caring place on earth, we always encourage when we have students exhibiting behaviors that align with that vision. It lights up our hearts,” Hall County Athletics and Communications Director Stan Lewis said in a statement.

Martin Elementary will host a pizza party for Julian and all his friends to celebrate his heroic deeds.
