HBO’s ‘Irma Vep’ Trailer Reveals This May Be the Most Meta TV Show Ever

If one more Hollywood person from the movie world came to watch TV saying that the practiced in their series like “a long, divisive movie” television critics and journalists around the world can explode together. Sir. Dear madam. What you are describing is a TV show. Overcome yourself.

It’s no doubt gratifying to hear this hilarious little quote in the new trailer for HBO’s super meta series, Irma Vep.

“It’s a movie, admittedly a bit long,” fictional writer and director René Vidal (Vincent Macaigne) told a studio head after he was accused of making a series of films. “Divide into eight pieces.”

“If you say so,” replied the head of the studio, echoing all our thoughts as each new feature-length feature hits theaters.

It’s not just this — the whole new Irma Vep trailers mock the film industry, bringing in remake culture like Alicia Vikander star as an actress looking to reboot Les Vampires. The catch here is Irma Vep is a remake of Olivier Assayas’ 1997 film of the same name. It’s a movie about a remake.

And it all might be a little too confusing, if it weren’t for Vikander’s dazzling charms to be the norm (well, sort of – she’s not Irma Vep, she’s the actress, Mira, in the lead role. ) Irma Vep. Dressed in an all-black outfit, with her hair perfectly curled, the overall look of a Parisian, Mira takes center stage in her new project. It’s an eight-part HBO series.

She’ll need to keep that polished aura on set, especially since she’s dodging her former assistant and ex-girlfriend Laurie (Adria Arjona), who just got married. Mira says in the trailer: “I’m sick of being a superhero. “I don’t need a hit. I need a good movie”.

A limited series will have to do, Mira, because that’s what HBO gives you! Irma Vep will be an eight-episode series, all created by Olivier Assayas himself. HappinessSam Levinson’s also joined project A24 as Executive Producer with his wife, Ashley Levinson.

Original Irma Vepstarring Cheung Man Ngoc as Vikander, premiered at the 1996 Cannes Film Festival. For the most part, the film follows the same plot: Playing the same lead as her, Cheung is set to remake the film. classic mute Les Vampires under the direction of French film director René Vidal.

OG Movies are streaming on HBO Max, if you want to see them before the new series ends. Irma Vep will premiere on HBO on June 6.
