Hearthstone’s latest expansion is a mystery with the Nathria Castle murder

Hearthstone is making a trip to the Shadowlands for a sumptuous dinner party hosted by the not-so-nefarious Sire Denathrius. “Stored” is appropriate in the past tense because someone was was killed the current leader is the former leader of Revendreath and Venthyr. Now there is a screening full of suspects and locations to investigate to find out who committed the dirty act in the Nathria Castle Murders.

Murder at Castle Nathria features three main aspects to the series, including some new mechanics to the digital card game. The first is ten Legendary suspects, a new legendary minion with one representing each Hearthstone class. These legends include sly detective Murloc Holmes, who lets you copy cards from your opponent’s deck by correctly guessing three questions about the cards in your hand or deck, and Decimator Olgra, who has can be strengthened by counting the number of minions damaged and then attacking all enemies on the Board. As one login bonus now you can get your copy of Prince Renathal for freewhen added to your deck, increases your initial health by 30 and your deck size by 40.

Location is a new type of card that can be sent to the battlefield. They have no health or attack stats and cannot be targeted by Minions or Spells unless the card explicitly says so. Despite the lack of interaction, they will still have a pretty big effect on a game. Positions have abilities that the player can activate once per turn and, like Equip, have a certain amount of usage, with each activation consuming a durability and activating a cooldown for one turn. When a Location card is used up, it leaves the battlefield.

Final, Transmission perfected new mechanics in Murder at Castle Nathria. Cards with the tag Infuse will be empowered when sitting in your hand when skilled minions on the battlefield die, absorbing Anima or life essence from that entity. When the cost of Infuse is satisfied, that spell or minion buffs or causes an effect that alters the card in some way, causing a stronger card to be used.

Murder at Castle Narthria will appear on Hearthstone on August 2 and will include a total of 135 new cards. You can check out some of the new cards in the gallery above and watch the announcement video at the top of the page.
