Hulu raises its subscription prices today • TechCrunch
Today, October 10, Hulu raised its subscription price. Announced in Auguststreaming service owned by Disney, as well as ESPN+ and Disney+, are both increasing in price. Hulu is increasing its ad-supported plan from $6.99 to $7.99 per month. Its ad-free plan now costs $14.99 per month instead of $12.99 per month.
For now, Disney plan subscribers are safe as Hulu hasn’t raised the price yet. However, the plan that comes with ESPN+, Disney+, and Hulu with ads will increase in price later this year. This plan is increasing from $13.99 per month to $14.99 per month. Thankfully, the Disney bundle with Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+ without ads will stay the same at $19.99 per month.
Hulu’s Live TV plans won’t change today, but there’s a chance prices will go up. The basic plan — Hulu Live TV, Disney+, and ESPN+ — costs $69.99 per month and includes advertising and bundles Disney+ and ESPN+ with Hulu. Hulu Live TV, ESPN+ with ads, and Disney+ without ads will still cost $74.99 per month.
Raising prices is a common move for streaming services. In January, Netflix increase the price of its subscriptions in the US Same time last yearHulu has raised the price of its subscription.
The surge can be overwhelming for consumers, which is one reason why run-and-return is so common. Antenna found 30 million fewer cancellations in Q1 2022, 12% higher than any quarter in history.
