The Angel of Los Angeles are bringing back caretaker manager Phil Nevin to manage the club for the 2023 season. Nevin takes over from Joe Maddon, who was let go mid-season. Both sides agreed to a one-year deal on Wednesday.
Nevin was the third junior coach for the Los Angeles Angels before Maddon was fired. Since taking over the team, the Angels have gone 46-60. They were officially eliminated from the playoffs in mid-September. It’s been a season to forget, but the organization wants to see what Nevin can do with a full season to prepare.
Los Angeles Angels fans weren’t too pleased with the announcement. They don’t believe Phil Nevin is the right man for the job. He has not shown that he is capable of turning this organization around.
Fans are hoping to move on from Nevin this season, or at least let him return to third-base coaching. They want the organization to find a manager who can deliver real promise to a team better than their resume shows.
“Unbelievable Ohtani LOCK to play for this team, what a waste” one fan cried.
“Hahahahahaha wow. Just dissolved the franchise. New name, new city.” suggested another fan.
Some fans believe the team isn’t serious about entering the 2023 season. They feel as though the Los Angeles Angels will waste another year. Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtanicareer of. Fans don’t want to see the pair miss the playoffs again next year.
The Los Angeles Angels need to get serious or let Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani walk
The Los Angeles Angels’ inability to compete is terrible not only for LA fans, but for baseball fans in general. MLB fans have yet to see Shohei Ohtani play in the brightest light in the post-season period. Said to be one of baseball’s best players right now, he needs to play in October.
The Angels have two MVP Award winners on their team. Don’t understand why they are always bad. The level of play that both Trout and Ohtani bring to the team each day will more than reflect their under-500 win record.
MLB fans deserve to see this pair compete consistently in the knockout stages. The Angels need to be serious and competitive while Trout and Ohtani are both playing at elite level.
