IAEA chief: Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is a Ukrainian facility

KYIV: International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) the head Rafael Grossi said on Thursday that the United Nations nuclear watchdog had reviewed Zaporizhzhia Nuclear power plant is a facility of Ukraine.
Russia occupied the factory in southern Ukraine in March, shortly after invading Ukraine, and the President of Russia Vladimir Putin ordered his government on Wednesday to bring it under control.
The largest plant in Europe and Ukrainian employees have continued to operate it.
“This is a matter of international law … we want the war to stop immediately, and of course the IAEA’s position is that this facility is a Ukrainian facility,” he said. Grossi told reporters in Kyiv.
He is expected to travel to Moscow for talks and meet Russian officials after his talks in the Ukrainian capital.
