IAF scrambles jets after ‘bomb scare’ onboard Iranian plane over Indian airspace | India News


NEW DELHI: Indian Air Force Fighters scrambled to intercept a foreign aircraft originating from Iran is moving towards New Delhi airspace.
According to the sources, security agencies in Delhi received input on the possibility of a bomb on board, which triggered an alert and the plane was not allowed to land in Delhi.
The foreign plane, which was headed to China as its final destination, entered Indian airspace upon warning from India Air Traffic Control was shared with the aircraft. Indian Air Force Su-30MKI fighters from Punjab and Jodhpur airbases scrambled to intercept the aircraft, sources told ANI.
The nature of the bomb threat or the name of the commercial Iranian carrier remains unclear.
However, after clearance, the aircraft is currently moving towards China and at the time of this report’s submission, it has flown through Indian airspace and is being closely monitored by security agencies.
The plane is continuing its flight towards China.
