Jeff Bridges ”The Old Man” renewed for Season 2 on FX – The Hollywood Reporter
FX is not ready to retire yet Old man.
The cable outlet picked up a second season of the series starring Jeff Bridges as a former CIA agent who is dragged back into the world of espionage. The three-episode renewal on the show’s seven-episode first season, the series has scored solid viewership to date.
Based on a novel by Thomas Perry, Old man follows Dan Chase (Bridge), who left the CIA decades ago and lives off the grid. When an assassin finds and tries to get Chase out, Dan is drawn back to the life he left behind. FX’s 20th Television sibling produces the series with The Littlefield Company (Fargo, The Handmaid’s Tale).

The show’s June 16 premiere brought in 975,000 viewers for its first broadcast, a show strong in a ratings environment where only a handful of scripted cable shows hit 1. million viewers for their online debut. FX says that even with three days of viewing delays, Old man was the most watched cable series since early 2021. It was also the top FX series on Hulu for its opening weekend.

EJ Bonilla and Gbenga Akinnagbe also starred in the film. Steinberg and Robert Levine are credited as creators; Steinberg executive produced with Littlefield, Shotz, Levine, Bridges, David Schiff and Jon Watts, who directed the first two episodes.
