Julia Roberts and George Clooney finally explained why their longtime friendship never turned romantic.
Hollywood stars, close friends for decades, participated in a joint interview for their latest film, Tickets to Heaven, where they talk about their sweet – but strict – platonic relationship.
When asked if they ever issued a “no dating policy” in conversation with Access HollywoodRoberts, 51, offered a fascinating insight.

“Did you ever have a no-dating policy back in the… Years ago when you were in a relationship?” host Kit Hoover asked.
“In order not to date? I don’t think we need to make that clear!” the Beautiful Woman the actress replied. “That seemed like the right thing to do.”
Clooney, 61, agrees and says the idea of taking their friendship to the next level has never really been explored.
“Julia was always in a relationship, or I was in a relationship,” he explains. “We were instant friends.
“It’s been nothing but fun for us, so I don’t think it’s really a thing.”

Roberts is married to husband Danny Moder, the father of her three children, while Clooney has two with his wife Amal.
Elsewhere in the interview, the co-stars were asked what their first impressions of each other were.
Clooney says Roberts “makes me laugh” while Eat, Pray, Lovetar simply described the actor as “gentle”.
Clooney and Roberts’ friendship first began more than 20 years ago when they played an ex-wife in the 2001 film. Ocean’s Eleven.
Friends who have also passed the roads on the screen in Confessions of a dangerous mind in 2002, Ocean’s Twelve in 2004 and in the 2016 movie Money monster.
Their latest project sees the co-stars play a divorced couple.
