Kentucky is the top pick for the 2022 SEC volleyball season

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (July 11, 2022) – Kentucky, the defending SEC Champion, has been selected as the favorite player ahead of the 2022 SEC volleyball season, according to the SEC Pre-Season Coaches Poll.

The Wildcats, who finished 25-5 overall and 17-1 in last season’s conference game, won 10 of the 13 votes in first place and 142 points in the pre-season poll. Florida received two votes in first place and 132 points for second place in the poll.

Tennessee was third with 118 points and one vote in first place, while Arkansas took fourth place with 105 points. Mississippi is fifth with 103 points, and South Carolina is sixth with 75 points. Ole Miss received 70 points for seventh place, followed by LSU in eighth with 66. Georgia (63) took ninth, followed by Texas A&M (62), Missouri (31), Auburn ( 30) and Alabama (17) entered the ring out of the poll.

Fifteen student-athletes have been selected to the 2022 All-SEC Volleyball Team. The team includes Jillian Gillen of Arkansas; Merritt Beason and Bre Kelly of Florida; Kentucky’s Eleanor Beavin, Emma Grome, Reagan Rutherford and Azhani Tealer; Anita Anwusi of LSU; Ole Miss ‘Sasha Ratliff; Gabby Waden of Mississippi; Anna Dixon of Missouri; Jenna Hampton of South Carolina; and Morgahn Fingall of Tennessee, Natalie Hayward and Danielle Mahaffey.

The SEC 2022 volleyball season will begin on Friday, August 26, and conference matches will begin on Wednesday, September 21.
