Kremlin says Western tanks would ‘burn’ in Ukraine
MOSCOW: The Kremlin said on Wednesday that if Western countries provide Ukraine with heavy tanks, they will be destroyed on the battlefield, because Kiev is waiting for a decision from Berlin on the transfer Newspaper 2 tanks.
“Technologically, this is a failed plan. This is an overestimation of the potential that this will add to the Ukrainian military,” the Kremlin spokesman said. Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
“These tanks burn like all the other tanks. It’s just that they’re very expensive.”
The Kremlin has reacted to plans from Kiev’s allies to support the Ukrainian army with the Leopard tank.
Earlier this week, Peskov said any German supply of tanks to Ukraine would leave a “lasting mark” on bilateral relations between Moscow and Berlin.
He once said that Western weapons in Ukraine only prolong the conflict and ultimately increase the suffering of Ukrainian civilians.
Berlin is expected later on Wednesday to announce a decision on whether to allow other countries that maintain Leopard herds to send them to Kiev.
