Kyiv dismisses Russia’s annexation of Ukrainian regions as ‘worthless’

KYIV: Kyiv rejected as “null” the laws that the President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed on Wednesday, formalizing the annexation of four regions of Ukraine into Russia.
The head of Ukraine’s presidential office, Andriy Yermak, said on the Telegram messaging app: “The worthless decisions of the terrorist country are not as valid as the paper they signed. “A mass insane refugee can continue to live in a fictional world.”
Chairperson Volodymyr Zelenskyy earlier said in his nightly address that he had signed a decree canceling any actions by Putin to annex Ukrainian territories since the annexation of Crimea in 2014.
“Any decision by Russia, any treaty by which they try to take our land – all of this is worthless,” Zelenskyy said at the end of his video speech.
Russian energy company Gazprom says it is resuming gas supplies to Italy after reaching an agreement for transit through Austria.
The Russian government-controlled company suspended deliveries to Italy via Austria last week citing regulatory changes that took effect in the Alpine country last month.
In a statement on Wednesday, Gazprom said the Austrian pipeline operator has expressed readiness to handle gas shipments to Italy “so that Russian gas supplies through Austria can be resumed. ”
