Lakers, GM Rob Pelinka agree extension to 2025-26

Lakers reached an agreement on a multi-year extension with general manager and vice president of basketball operations Rob Pelinka, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Haynes added that the extension would take him until the end of the 2025-26 season, and that means Pelinka’s contract will expire at the same time as new head coach Darvin Ham.

Pelinka has been the team’s general manager since 2017 and was promoted to VP in 2020. He was responsible for the positive moves in the early stages of his tenure, including signing with LeBron James in 2018 and trade for Anthony Davis one year later. Those additions led to the championship in 2020.

Pelinka is trying to bring about a quick turnaround in LA after two consecutive disappointing years, including finishing 11th in the West last season. Pelinka Fired Frank Vogel was head coach in April, replaced him with Ham, and convinced James to sign second extension with the team this summer.
