Location of potential new Madison County jail raises concerns


Madison County voters will vote for or against a new county jail in the November election. The potential jail has two possible locations along Highway 412. One of the locations is a short drive from the Camp. Noark is less than two miles away for female scouts. “It is important for me to be educated about the needs of the community and the district,” said Dawn Prasifka, regional executive director of Girl Scouts. within a mile and a half. “The potential location is raising concerns for the future safety of the camp. “The concern is that the prisoners will get lost and enter our forest,” said Prasifka. in our camp space because there’s no prison to put them in,” Prasifka said. “We advocate that our bigger concern is the optics of that prison being close to the camp.” Madison County will host four public discussions over the next few weeks with the goal of teaching the public more about the potential new prison. Each meeting will take place at 6 p.m. at the following locations: Clifty Fire Department on October 14 Huntsville High School cafeteria on October 18 Kingston VFW Building on October 25 Eslet Fire Department on October 27
