“I probably found out on Wednesday that I was choosing Texas,” says Mitchell. “Actually listening to coach Bo Davis speak, he really explains everything to me and I feel, from a development perspective, that’s the place for me.
“Coach Bo Davis broke my film, showing me a movie of another player he coached before and what I might look like,” he said. “He also showed me the players in the NFL doing the things he coached too and how my game resembles theirs.
“I wouldn’t say Arch going there was a big deal for me,” he said. “I went on an official visit at the same time as him and we talked. I just felt it was the perfect place for me. I wouldn’t say it had anything to do with him but it was. It’s an add-on. It’s a good thing that it (a lot of players commit to Texas) is happening right now.”

The commitment of Mitchell, who finished 13th for Texas last month, helps Texas close the gap between them and Ohio State 2nd in the rival teams standings and beat Georgia to a one-time high-ranking player. must again feel good for Steve Sarkisian and his staff. If Mitchell sticks to his commitment to the Longhorns, he’d be the most promising Texas signing since Chris Simms in 1999.
In Mitchell, Texas are getting a huge inner defense that could help bolster their running defence. He does a great job of getting rid of tackles and making kicks backstage. Mitchell has also shown a willingness to go after ball-carriers on outfield runs. In passing situations, Mitchell can push the bag into the midfielder’s lap and disrupt his time. Strength and conditioning staff will have plenty to work with Mitchell and his 340-pound, 6-foot-6 frame but keeping him in shape will eventually become their primary focus because It’s the quickness with which he brings to the desk that makes him a matter of comparison.
