FORT WORTH, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) – A Fort Worth neighborhood wants answers after a man was found surreptitiously pruning trees late at night.
They called him Edward Scissorhands.
“I was talking to my wife, Emily, and I was like ‘hey, we had a storm last night’ and she was like, ‘Oh no, that’s Edward Scissorhands..’ and so I was like ” uh what?” “Jerry Balkenbush said.
Emily Balkenbush said: ‘People in the neighborhood were talking about it and it looked like he was just passing certain streets.
Some of their neighbors have caught him on surveillance videos of their home, usually out around 3 a.m. with a dog on a leash.
Danny Thomann said: “He started pruning the tree and admired his work and stepped back. “We really just want him to stop doing this.”
They say that now these incidents are becoming more frequent. In just one night, about a dozen trees on three different streets were downed.
“Sometimes he just takes a little bit, but then on other people’s trees he’ll eat a lot,” says Ashley Thomann. “We’re all responsible for those trees for each of our HOA, so if something happened to the tree, people would pay hundreds of dollars per tree to replace them. So that’s part of it and then I think the other part of it is someone else’s property, but we don’t want anyone to get hurt either.”
They say police reports have been filed.
“There are several investigators working on it from what we understand,” Balkenbush said.
Now, they hope someone recognizes the man.
