Man seriously burned in Glendale house explosion
A homeowner was injured Sunday afternoon following a home explosion in Glendale. The explosion happened around 3:05 p.m. near Sievers Place and River Forest Drive. local burn center with serious, potentially non-life threatening injuries. Witnesses told WISN 12 News that the man was alert. Several witnesses told WISN 12 News reporter Courtney Sisk they heard a loud bang and felt the ground shake. He saw his neighbor’s house in ruins. “Three other people and I ran to the window between the kitchen and the living room and he[the victim]was there trying to get out and we pulled him out of there,” Mangold said. “You do what you need to do, and he’s in pain and you’re going to get him out of there.” Mike Poelzer also felt sinister on Sunday afternoon. He also ran to help get the man to a shady area until help arrived. “He was in a lot of pain. We asked him if anyone was in the house, pets or anything, and he could say no, no, no. but he was screaming,” Poelzer said. Fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire. “There is some preliminary information likely from the occupants of the house that they may have lit a cigarette, at this point there was an explosion, or a fire started.” North Coast Rescue Battalion Chief Dan Tyk said. “Obviously, it’s something that right now is more concerned with the individual’s care than our exact… We’ll get a statement from that individual and hopefully be able to corroborate that. and find out if that’s the end cause.” The house is considered total loss. It is not structurally safe. Neighbors like Mangold all know this man and hope he can make a full recovery. “And I just hope he gets the care he needs to come back.” Fire officials want the public to know if you smell gas in your home or building, call 911.

The crew found the sole occupant, a man in his 50s, with severe burns.
He was taken to a local burn center with serious, possibly non-life-threatening injuries. Witnesses told WISN 12 News that the man was alert.

Carl Mangold and his wife went out to see what had happened.
He saw his neighbor’s house in ruins.
