Man United’s Greenwood charged with intentional rape, assault

MANCHESTER, Anglo-British prosecutors said on Saturday Manchester United footballer Mason Greenwood has been charged with willful rape, controlling conduct and assault.
The 21-year-old was arrested in January after photos and videos on social media were posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical abuse.
“The Crown Prosecution Service today authorized Greater Manchester Police to charge Mason Greenwood, 21, with rape, participation in the control and enforcement of conduct, as well as assault causing actual bodily harm incident,” prosecutor Janet Potter said in a statement.
“All three counts relate to the same claimant.”
Greenwood will appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Monday.
“Greater Manchester Police have charged and investigated a 21-year-old man with the restraint and forcible attempted rape and assault of a woman under Section 47,” a statement from local police said. know.
Neither Greenwood nor his representatives have commented at any stage on the allegations against him.
“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all involved that criminal proceedings against the defendant are active and that he is entitled to a fair trial,” Potter added.
He is still suspended by his club, who released a statement later on Saturday.
“Manchester United notes that Crown Prosecution Service has brought criminal charges against Mason Greenwood. He remains suspended by the club, pending the outcome of the trial,” the statement read.
