Manny Pacquiao called a December exhibition fight against a Korean YouTuber “my return to the ring”, saying he wanted to show that he was “still in boxing”.
The 43-year-old boxing legend retired from the sport last year to make his country’s presidential defeat and is now following in the footsteps of his former rival, Floyd Mayweather, in hosting a show.
The Philippine great will fight DK Yoo in Seoul on December 11 (December 10 in the US) with the money raised goes to Ukraine and the homeless in his homeland.
However, after appearing as a hologram in Los Angeles on Thursday to promote the exhibit, Pacquiao hinted that he may not be fully retired yet.
“I’m going to try to prove that Manny Pacquiao is still there in boxing,” he said, declining to rule out a rematch with Mayweather.
“This is my return to the ring, this is my passion, so I have to work hard even though it is an exhibition match.
“I will try to end the match early so we can go home early,” he added, hinting that he intends to take out Korea.
Pacquiao, a multiple-retirement world champion with a 62-8-2 record, admits: “I feel lonely when I retire from boxing.”
