I reviewed the documented costumes of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen over the past few years, and there are a few themes. One of them is very few jeans. They are obviously girls who wear pants and have been worn boat pants long before they became a trend. And now that they’re a trend, it hasn’t stopped them from wearing them.
While shopping together in West Hollywood this week, Mary-Kate and Ashley had a similar idea when they wore black long and loose pants. Ashley paired her shoes (which are more flared) with an oversized white t-shirt and pointy boots while Mary-Kate went with a scarf, long black blazer and flip flops. If you see their outfits without context, it’s hard to guess what season it is, but I suppose that also demonstrates the versatility of a pair of black breeches. They will work as part of a carefree summer outfit or a cozy fall outfit.
