McDonald’s staff begs customers to stop ordering Happy Meals for adults

People really want their Adult Happy Meal, and that puts a lot of stress on McDonald’s frontline workers.

On Mondays, McDonald’s start selling The Happy Meal — usually aimed at children — is aimed at adult customers. And, like the Kids Happy Meal, the special offer comes with a toy, part of a collaboration with Cactus Plant Flea Market, a streetwear brand. The promotion lasts until the end of the month.

But while potential customers are excited about special promotions – and limited-edition toys – McDonald’s employees are less enthusiastic about dealing with the influx of customers. “I can see the tension between my colleagues,” said one employee Kotaku.

Employees are letting off steam on social media, like TikTok and Reddit. One employee posted on TikTok: “Please stop ordering this. Another employee wrote “they go crazy with the adult happy meal” over a video showing the number of Happy Meal orders.

“New Adult Happy Meals Are Killing Me,” says a unit on the McDonald’s employee subreddit.

“We ran out of boxes on the first day we got them, out of toys on the second and on the third we had to say the truck wouldn’t arrive until tomorrow,” it wrote. one person commented elsewhere on the subreddit. “It’s… not fun.”

This isn’t the first time a McDonald’s promotion has caused trouble for employees.

In 2017, McDonald’s revive its Sichuan dipping sauce for a day as part of a marketing exercise with the Adult Swim program Rick and Morty. Desperate fans flooded into restaurants in hopes of getting some limited supplies, leading to long queues, disruptive customers and even calls to law enforcement. The chaos was made worse by poor communication from McDonald’s about which restaurants are participating in the promotion, meaning that customers flock to the restaurants without the sauce.

Customer chaos hits again in 2021, when McDonald’s revive its Pokémon Happy Meals, complete with collectible cards, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the video game franchise. Sorry, the promotion happened during bubbles in Pokémon trading cardswhere the card can be flipped to return 350 times.

Some restaurants have been forced to restrict the sale of Pokémon Happy Meals to prevent large-scale players from buying up available Happy Meals and flipping the accompanying trading cards on eBay.

It’s not just McDonald’s. Last year, a tweet from a purpose Starbucks Staff went viral after they complained about customers adding too many modifiers to their drinks, leading to many other bartenders complaining of the stress of completing similarly complex orders .
