Merapi: Indonesia’s Merapi volcano erupts, spews hot lava



JAKARTA CAPITAL: Indonesia‘S Mount Merapione of the world’s most active volcanoes, erupted late on Friday and continued to spew hot ash and other volcanic material on Saturday.

“Residents should anticipate disruptions due to volcanic ash from the Mount Merapi eruption and please be alert to the risk of volcanic mud flows, especially when it is raining all around. Merapi“, the country’s volcanology agency said in a statement on Saturday.
Merapi also erupted last week, sending 9,600 feet (3,000 meters) of volcanic material to the summit.

It was Merapi’s strongest eruption since 1930 when about 1,300 people were killed. An eruption in 1994 killed about 60 people.
