Minneapolis fire brigade responds to apartment building fire
MINNEAPOLIS — One person was injured after jumping from a second-story window to escape a fire at a covered apartment building Saturday morning in Minneapolis.
According to the Minneapolis Fire Department, several people were in the building at the time of the fire and at one point one of them jumped from the second floor. Officials said the man had been medically evaluated by HCMC medical staff and was in “stable” condition.
Officials said they were called to an apartment near the Leaning Pizza Tower shortly before 6:15 a.m. because of reports of smoke coming from the building. Teams evacuated the building before the fire spread to all four floors, resulting in part of the roof and exterior walls in the alleyways collapsing. It is not clear if any nearby buildings were affected.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
