Missing woman’s parents unhappy Police kill murder suspect: ‘My wife cried so hard’
This poor California woman has been missing since January – and it looks like the police may have blown their chances of finding her!
In case you don’t track the case, Alexis Gabe was last seen at her home in the Bay Area on January 26. Oakley police believe her disappearance was NOT by choice. In fact, they think she was murdered by her boyfriend, Marshall Curtis Jones (above, insert). Unfortunately when the police finally caught up with Jones this month, things didn’t go well. When US sheriffs and local officers tried to arrest him in a friend’s apartment in Kent, Washington, where he appeared to be hiding, they accused him of having a knife – and they had no choice but to shoot him dead. Huh!

Six months after she first went missing, Alexis’s parents received a huge amount of attention! As we reported, the Gabes received copies of Jones’ handwritten notes after his death – notes that authorities believe were the key to finding Alexis’ body. In the papers, found in a pile of trash at a home owned by her sister Jones, were detailed driving directions to a country road in Pioneer, California – about 60 miles east of Sacramento.
Police believe they confirmed Jones followed instructions. Antioch police told Gabe’s family that they were able to track his phone to a location on the road:
“Marshall turned off his phone for several hours around the time he was driving to Pioneer… We believe he drove this route because about half way there he got lost and had to turn on the phone to get back on the right track.”
The police immediately followed instructions and began searching the 27-year-old’s remains in earnest. They searched 200 acres in the area, including draining an 8 million gallon pond. Alexis’ father Gwyn Gabe told ABC7:
“Unfortunately, they found nothing.”
He added:
“They just focus on the Pioneers. They strongly believe that she is there.”
He and his wife still hope their daughter is still alive. Gwyn says:
“Until we find a body, we will continue to believe that she is still alive.”
So sad. If the police are right, and she’s dead, every day of vain hope is another delay for her parents to heal. The sooner she is found, the better. It will give them the closure they need.
Unfortunately, the police may have blown away the only chance they could ever find her. If they’re right, only Jones knows exactly where she is. What’s not revealed in so many reports we’re seeing about this new information, which seems to prove Jones knows where she is, is the extent of police failure. They could have found Alexis, dead or alive, if only they could catch a Black suspect without killing him. No one defends the man’s actions if he kills his girlfriend, but just because he’s a murder suspect doesn’t mean he has no rights. And a lot of suspects are detained without being killed every day.
Honestly, we’re mostly thinking about Alexis’ family right now. In a statement, Gwyn Gabe called Marshall’s death “tragic and unexpected”, revealing:
“My wife cried a lot when she heard the news of his passing.”
It was all too obvious how upset the family was with how things had gone downhill. The grieving father explained, holding back tears:
“We want to meet him face to face. We want to look him in the eye and ask him why, ask him, ‘Where is Alexis?’ “
They just hope to be able to face him – and find out for once and be sure where their daughter is. You can learn more about the capture attempt (below):
