NBA GM Survey picks Milwaukee Bucks to win title 2022-23

NBA has announced the results of Its annual GM survey , where the league’s 30 general managers weigh in on 50 questions about teams, awards, personnel moves, placement rankings, and more. And for the first time since the survey began in the 2002-3 season, GMs have chosen Milwaukee Bucks to win the title.

The Bucks received 43% of the vote for the person most likely to win the title, with the defending champion Golden State Warriors coming in second with 25%. The Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics rounded off the vote with 21% and 11% respectively. Milwaukee was the overwhelming choice to win the Eastern Conference with 72% of the vote, while the Warriors and Clippers were even with 48% to win the West.

It’s not a perfect predictor, as the Brooklyn Nets were voted for by 72% of people last season and they were swept up in Round One. Second place? Lakers, team 33-49. In the 2020-21 survey, 81% of people voted for the Lakers to repeat, and they also lost in Round One. When the Lakers won the 2019-20 season, 46% of GMs chose the Clippers and only 11% chose the Lake Show. Not since the 2017-18 survey has the survey picked out the real champions.

Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo overtook Mavericks’ Luka Doncic as their player of choice to start the franchise, by 55% to 45%. Voters chose Doncic as the most likely MVP, although he ranked behind the Suns’ Devin Booker as the NBA’s best shot guard because some voted him a minor forward. .
