Now here’s a story we never thought we’d write. Netflix has put out a casting call to entice people to play the UK reality show version of their popular Squid Game series.
Following on from the announcement that a second season was on the air, the announcement said it wanted people to “take part in the UK’s biggest social experiment” – and for those who watched the original show, this obviously causes some warnings. In the series, we see a very deprived society, in contrast to the wealthy, so alarming that they are scrambling for money and ready to degrade and dehumanize to get out of their piled-up debt and their existence. Thus, it seemed an unusually tasteless opportunity in the midst of our own economic crisis; especially when people like Chrissy Teigan have been criticized a lot for hosting the “Ink Game Party” after seeing the original show.
Despite that, the producers are offering a ‘big win’ chance: “You’ve seen the drama, now’s your chance to participate in the biggest social experiment ever. by Netflix! This alternate script-free show turns the scripted world of the movie into reality. Real-life players will be immersed in the iconic Squid Game universe and will never know what will happen next. Here, they’ll compete in a series of heart-pounding games to be the lone survivor* and walk away with a life-changing cash prize.
With a fortune, who will be your ally, who will you trust, and who will be the betrayer in this ultimate test of personality?
* Please note: Win or lose, all players will be unharmed. But if you win, you win big! “
So while we don’t know the exact amount to take, we do know that it won’t be a completely unscrupulous free game like the original!
